Melvin L. Williams


Melvin L. Williams Jr. is a servant leader, mentor, minister, and community advocate dedicated to empowering youth and strengthening families. A former University of North Carolina football player and graduate with a degree in radio, television, and motion pictures, Williams is best known as the founder of PROUD Fathers, Inc., a nonprofit organization focused on mentoring and supporting young Black males and fostering positive father-child relationships. Through mentorship, coaching, scholarships, and community outreach, his work has impacted countless young people across North Carolina and beyond.

In recognition of his commitment to underserved communities, Williams received the prestigious Champions of Change Award from President Barack Obama in 2014. With more than 34 years of service in state government and a Master’s degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, he continues to lead through faith, service, and advocacy. An associate pastor, mentor, and philanthropist, Williams is passionate about creating opportunities for the next generation and inspiring others through servant leadership, dedication, and compassion.
